Need a Same-Day Emergency Dentist in Elmhurst? Here's What to Do
Dental emergencies rarely happen at convenient times. Here's how to think clearly when one hits.
What counts as an emergency: severe or persistent tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, a cracked or broken tooth, a lost crown or filling, dental trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, or signs of infection (swelling, fever, bad taste).
Knocked-out tooth? Grab it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently in milk or saline, and place it back in the socket or in a cup of milk. Call us immediately. The first 30–60 minutes matter most.
Broken tooth? Save any pieces. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek. Call us.
Severe pain? Take an OTC pain reliever (not aspirin against the gum — it can burn tissue). Call us early in the day for the best same-day odds.
When to go to the ER first: significant facial swelling that affects breathing, uncontrollable bleeding, or trauma from a serious accident. Otherwise, a dentist is faster and more equipped for the actual fix.
